21st International exhibition DairyTech: novelties, import substitution and prospects in new realities

21st International Exhibition of equipment for Milk and dairy production DairyTech 2023 was held January 25-27, 2023, at the Crocus Expo IEC. The event was organized by ITE Group.
DairyTech once again brought together representatives of Russian and foreign dairy businesses. Industry professionals visited the exhibition to find new solutions, discuss burning issues, and conclude profitable agreements.
This year 144 companies from 13 countries of the world participated in the exhibition, and 35 companies participated for the first time. Equipment, technologies, and ingredients for the dairy industry were demonstrated by manufacturers and suppliers from such countries as Austria, Belarus, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, France, and the Czech Republic.
The DairyTech 2023 exposition aroused keen interest among dairy industry professionals. Exhibitors marked the high demand for equipment that was presented at the stands. During 3 show days, 4,334 specialists from 23 countries and 75 Russian regions visited the exhibition, which is 65% more than in 2022.

Many Russian and foreign manufacturers in 2023 demonstrated new equipment and technologies at their stands.
Ramensky Instrument-Making Plant (part of JSC KRET of the Rostec State Corporation) presented equipment for creating optimal conditions for dairy products in places of storage and transportation. Five new models of air purifiers-disinfectors TIOKRAFT manufactured by Ramensky Instrument-Making Plant JSC were presented: VR400M, VR1200, K100, K400, and K1000.
PROFITEX plant, an annual participant of the DairyTech exhibition, demonstrated four models of automatic filling and bottling machines for dairy products: an automatic machine for filling liquid and pasty dairy products into plastic cups with a platinum seal and a double-row capper; an automatic filling machine for filling dairy products into a pillow-type plastic bag; automatic machine for packing butter-chocolate butter or curd mass into a briquette formed from a roll of cached foil or parchment; triblock for bottling milk, yogurt, kefir into PET bottles with automatic feeding and capping. In addition, a laser marker was presented at the plant's stand.
Representatives of the company NPKF «Flight-M» held presentations on both existing equipment and new developments and technologies. Visitors explored the technological equipment: film-type vacuum evaporators for milk, whey, and condensed milk; membrane filtration plants: microfiltration, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis; food pumps; and conveyor equipment. Of particular interest to the visitors of the stand was the ultrafiltration unit to produce milk protein concentrate KMB 85 and whey protein concentrate KSB 80, which is successfully operated by Green Lines (Soyuzsnab), as well as the presented samples of dry products already produced at the plant – KMB 85 and KSB 80.
The «Lambumiz» plant presented the range of products and novelties that will be launched this year. An interesting novelty of this year was presented at the booth – a packaging design created using artificial intelligence. Everyone was able to order and receive an unusual design created with the help of artificial intelligence right at the booth. It was necessary to write a description of your product using key phrases or words. The most unexpected styles and drawings came from those who left the application.
TDNT Engineering, the Türköz (Turkey) equipment official distributor in Russia and the Republic of Belarus, presented a melting boiler to produce mozzarella and other types of cheese with a minimum volume of 100 liters (the maximum volume of the melting boiler can reach 1200 liters).
The Russian manufacturer APS Group demonstrated machines for cutting cheese into fixed weights, as well as a vertical molding column. The column can operate both autonomously and as part of an automated line to produce pressed cheeses.
DMP – supplier of technologies, integrated technical solutions, and equipment for milk and whey processing presented relevant technological solutions to produce dry ingredients from milk and whey.
Facchinetti RUS presented an automatic line for slicing and packing cheese into fixed-weight portions.
In the «Ingredients» exposition, for the first time at the DairyTech exhibition, the food ingredients supplier NEOS INGREDIENTS presented its products. The company's product range includes a variety of ingredients for the dairy, oil & fat, and meat processing industries.
DairyTech Award results
On January 26, the awarding ceremony was held to celebrate the winners of the DairyTech Award. The award is aimed at identifying cutting-edge developments of dairy industry players, brand support, and business development.
The winners were determined by members of the professional jury: Alexei Yakushev (MGUPP), Maria Zhebit (SOYUZMOLOKO), Alla Ostryakova (JSC Moloko), Marina Petrova (Petrova Five Consulting), Alexander Kruchinin (FGANU VNIMI), Evgenia Zakharova (JSC Tulsky Dairy Plant).
Winners in the nominations:
APS GROUP with the product automatic line for the production of pressed cheeses in the nomination «Equipment for the production of milk and dairy products»;
TDNT Engineering with the product conversion of equipment for the available formats of aseptic carton packaging in the nomination «Packaging equipment and packaging»;
PAG company with the product Cip Monitor software package in the nomination «Digitalization and automation of technologies in dairy production».

On the second day of DairyTech, an awards ceremony was held for outstanding achievements at the show.

DairyTech Connect – Digital Business Community
In 2023, ITE launched a new DairyTech Connect digital platform for exhibitors and visitors. The platform is a unique business community for dairy industry professionals and an additional opportunity for companies to keep in touch with potential partners after the exhibition. DairyTech Connect is an opportunity for networking and business communication 365 days a year, organizing industry online events and personal video meetings, sharing news, industry analytics, and opinions of key experts, as well as promoting your products and services within the professional community. More than 100 companies and 1000 users have already registered in the community and are actively maintaining their pages and getting new partners for their businesses!
DairyTech business program
The business program of the exhibition consisted of 16 events with the participation of 107 speakers. 820 delegates attended the business program events, representing 19% of DairyTech's total attendance. During the exhibition, experts discussed topical issues in the dairy industry and noted the importance of import substitution and localization of production.
The most popular event of the business program was the analytical session «The dairy industry in modern realities». The speakers shared their views on the main trends and challenges of the dairy industry in 2023. Alexey Kirichenko, Senior Analyst, Analytical Department of Sberbank, said that there are certain risks in the share of investment goods in the import structure. Alexey Voronin, Director of the Analytical Department of the National Union of Milk Producers (SOYUZMOLOKO), devoted his speech to the industry trends in terms of production volumes and performance indicators. In his speech, he said that the dairy market has a high potential for further growth in consumption, and over the next 10 years it could increase by almost a quarter, outpacing other large food categories in terms of growth.
The «Plenary session of the leaders of the dairy industry» began with a welcoming speech by Vladimir Ivanovich Kashin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues. He thanked the participants and organizers of the exhibition for their contribution to the development of the dairy industry.
«In many areas, we occupy good positions and are quite competitive», Vladimir Ivanovich emphasized, speaking about the world positions of Russia in the dairy industry. Oleg Vladislavovich Tukhvatullin, Deputy Director of the Department of Digital Labeling of Goods and Legalization of Product Circulation, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia spoke about the main changes over the past six months in terms of digital labeling.
During an online speech, Alexander Viktorovich Vdovin, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Licensing, Supervisory Activities, Accreditation and Self-Regulation of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, shared plans to develop a simplified declaration through the Inspector mobile application. Anatoly Losev, General Director, Molvest Group, in his speech, spoke about the main challenges faced by milk processors in 2022 and touched upon the priorities that should be guided in 2023.
At the «Dairy Industry Marketing session», industry experts shared successful cases of product promotion. Oleg Sirota, director of the Istra cheese factory, in his report, revealed the main advantages of his own points of sale. The main advantages: you can adjust prices and promptly introduce promotions, low prices for the buyer, higher product turnover, and independence from retail chains.
For the first time, an Open Microphone was held as part of the business program of the exhibition – a new presentation format for manufacturing companies, where they presented their products and services to potential customers. New DairyTech 2023 initiative to give producers and buyers another opportunity to find partners!
On January 27, the cheese session «Trends, assortment, sales, technologies, and production issues» took place. Alexandra Demchenko, Managing Partner, Italian Traditions, shared with the audience her experience in the production of Italian artisan cheeses and talked about scaling production to a medium processing volume. Grigory Rogov, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Butter and Cheese Making – a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution «FNTs of Food Systems named after I.I. Gorbatov» of the Russian Academy of Sciences in his report spoke about the maturation of cheeses from defects to the characteristics of maturation for the rindless group.
Official support and partners of the exhibition
In 2023, the DairyTech exhibition was held with the support of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian Food Policy and Environmental Management, the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), the Government of Moscow, the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy the city of Moscow, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, the Administration of the Vladimir Region.
During the exhibition, more than 5 tours were held for representatives of government structures – the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region and other structures.
This year, the leading Russian manufacturer of agricultural machinery, Rostselmash, became a partner of the DairyTech exhibition. At the exhibition venue, First Deputy General Director of Rostselmash, Director of the Sales, Marketing, and Service Center Alexei Shveitsov signed a cooperation agreement with the Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region Ilya Sumarokov. It is expected that due to the agreements reached, the agricultural park of the region will be replenished with several dozen agricultural machines this year.
